Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Dave Bautista Opens Up About James Gunn's Return

Fans everywhere rejoiced when it was announced that James Gunn would be returning to the director's chair for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. DC fans shouldn't worry since he is still very committed to working on The Suicide Squad, but we're all just happy that he's back. If anyone is going to be ecstatic for his return, it has to be Drax actor Dave Bautista, who was one of the most vocal advocates for Gunn.

During an interview with Variety, Bautista opened up about Gunn's return and also discussed how vocal his defenses were for his friend. Unsurprisingly, Bautista feels like he has a real connection to the Guardians of the Galaxy crew and often credits Gunn for helping him get a great career.

"I just spoke my mind and was honest about the way I felt about it.I thought he was given a raw deal. I thought it was a bad call, bad decision. I wanted to bring it home. These guys are like family to me and I wanted to be involved in the third one. I wanted to use James' script because it's a beautiful script. Moving forward without James was a real personal issue with me."

Bautista also feels like Disney and Marvel would have released him from his contract if the actor continued to be dissatisfied. While the actor does say that he will honor his commitments, he feels that Disney and Marvel wouldn't have forced him to do so, especially if he was going to keep running his mouth.

"I am contractually obligated [to do the third movie], but I think that Marvel and Disney -- if I had really stood my ground and said, ‘I don't want to do this without James' -- I think that they are decent enough that they would've let me out of my contract."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will probably come out after 2020. Fans interested in Dave can see him take on Triple H this Sunday in WrestleMania 35.
