Vin Diesel had recently won the hearts of MCU fans with his role as Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, but now it looks like he's going to be moving onto Pandora to hang with the Na'vi. Just in, Diesel has made his announcement that he's going to be part of the Avatar sequels that are currently in the works.
Check it out:
There haven't been any details released for Diesel's role in the movies, but I can totally see him play either two sides of the divide. Either he's a military man working for the humans, or he's one of the alien people of Pandora. Other than his physicality, Diesel also has a distinct voice, and I can see him lending the voice of some kind of giant alien creature. Did you know this guy voiced the Iron Giant in the classic Brad Bird film?
Hopefully we get some kind of big announcement within the year. Avatar remains to be one of the most successful box office films in history, and a lot of pressure is riding on the sequels to deliver. Either way, it looks like Cameron has some kind of master plan, and I'm excited to see how he plans on expanding on this world.
I'm just hoping it doesn't turn out to be another remake of Pocahontas in space.
The first Avatar sequel is set to hit theaters Dec. 18, 2020.
