Gigi Hadid recently revealed that she auditioned for the role of Rapunzel in Disney's now-shelved Tangled live-action remake.

Earlier this year, we learned the news that Disney had decided to cancel the planned live-action remake of the beloved animated film following the disappointing box office performance of Snow White. At that time, there was no word on which actors were attached to star before the studio pulled the plug.

In a conversation with her friend Kendall Jenner on Vogue, Hadid admitted that she took singing lessons and auditioned for Rapunzel in the Tangled live-action remake.

"What do we do in this job anymore that scares us?" Hadid asked Jenner before she shared her audition experience on Tangled.

The model shared, "I was proud of my scene. The singing... I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I’ll show you my audition scene later."

Hadid's only acting experience before the Tangled audition was a cameo appearance in Ocean's 8. However, she still plays herself in the film.

My Oxford Year star Corey Mylchreest also revealed recently that he auditioned to play Flynn Rider before the project was shelved.

Is Disney Planning to Revive the Tangled Live-Action Remake?

So far, Disney still has no plans to revive the Tangled live-action remake anytime soon, and they've been slowing down in developing live-action versions of their animated classics.

However, considering that Lilo & Stitch managed to earn more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office, they might consider the idea of reviving the project again and exploring the opportunity of whether there is a market for audiences today to watch a live-action version of Tangled.

Moana is the only live-action remake that is currently on Disney's upcoming slate. It is slated to arrive in theaters in the summer of next year.
