However, with Thanos being brought more into the limelight, others are wondering who would win between Thanos and Galactus - Devourer of Worlds.

Galactus was featured briefly in The Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer and appeared as a planet-sized cloud due to the fact that he changes form to every individual in a way that they can fathom him. Would his deity form stop Thanos from being able to beat him?

Thanos’s Powers

There are some serious “what if’s” that need to be asked before attempting to answer such a big question, and the most obvious one is - Does Thanos have the infinity gauntlet?

If the answer is no, then the outcome doesn’t look good for the purple Titan. It’s important to note that Thanos has some incredible skills and abilities that make him an extremely worthy opponent, the first being that he is a natural-born military leader. Before going into battle with Galactus, he would plan far ahead, assess every outcome, and strategize for the best plan of attack that would assure victory.

As well as this, he is excellent at hand-to-hand combat, has incredible levels of strength, speed, stamina, and is practically invulnerable. He has telepathic powers and incredible intelligence that makes it difficult for psychic attacks, not to mention a ma-hooosssiiive army at his disposal that contains some of the universe’s greatest warriors. He is, by all means, a Titan and a Demi-god making him an extremely threatening opponent against heroes like The Avengers.

However, in this case, we’re speaking about him going up against someone who eats planets for lunch and moons for dessert. Galactus is something else!

Galactus’s Power

Depending on the storyline that’s being followed within the Marvel Multi-verse. Galactus has survived the “big crunch” of one universe and has literally been created at the start of another universe. He has literally been described as “a physical embodiment of the cosmos” His hunger for devouring new worlds is never-ending and he has unlimited cosmic power. He has exiled himself in the past in an attempt to stop his hunger but that for his choosing.

In short, Galactus could easily destroy Thanos without a second thought. That is providing Thanos doesn’t have the infinity gauntlet...

Possessing the power of all the stones could help Thanos in a variety of ways. However, it is possible that even if he clicked his fingers and erased Galactus from reality, that Galactus, who has the power to transmute, create, and destroy matter, could have the ability to resurrect himself. However, Thanos cannot do the same.

The Galactus Death Paradox

Eternity, which is the living embodiment of the Marvel Universe has a counterpart - Abraxas, which is the living embodiment of destruction. As a way of stopping pure destruction from being released across the universe, it has held him inside Galactus. This means that the destruction of Galactus could release the embodiment of destruction across the universe bringing all life to an end.

Needless to say, Thanos would have both foresight, not just through intellect but with the power of the time stone to be able to see that Galactus would technically and ironically be too deadly a foe to ever destroy; should he even have the power to do so in the first place.
