The Seven Sages of Destruction and Their Duty to the Demon King’s Army
The Seven Sages of Destruction transcend human knowledge and reason. They are the best of the best, and they serve the Demon King by expanding their power and control over the world.
They are considered the most important generals of the Demon King army, each tasked with carrying on the duty of securing key areas of interest in the Northern Lands.
It is said that they are working under the Omniscient Schlact, the Demon King’s confidant. The Omniscient Schlact is a top-tier demon who can see into the future, even a thousand years in advance!
As a member of the Seven Sages of Destruction, they are gifted with superhuman skills and abilities, not to mention black magic, immense MP, and more!
They are arrogant and prideful, as they hold their abilities superior to those of humans.
Who Are the Seven Sages of Destruction, and What Are Their Powers?
Here are the Seven Sages of Destruction and their powers in Frieren! Don’t confuse this title with Qual, who was known as the Elder Sage of Corruption.
- Aura the Guillotine's magic relies on the scales of obedience. She takes her target’s soul, including her own, and weighs them on the scales. The person whose soul has more mana can subordinate the other forever until they turn into dust.
- Most of the time, Aura decapitates her targets, earning her the moniker Aura the Guillotine. Aura became one of the Seven Sages of Destruction 500 years ago. She was defeated by the Hero’s Party, but she returned 28 years later, only to be taken down for good by Frieren.
- Not much is known about Immortal Bose, except that he has a helmet and horns growing on the side of his head instead of the usual way where they grow upwards on Demons. What is certain is that the Hero’s Party vanquished Immortal Bose, and their encounter with him became one of their favorite tales.
- Similar to Immortal Bose, not much is known about Miraculous Grausam. He has made brief appearances in the Frieren manga, but not enough to give more information and background about his abilities and powers. But we know that Miraculous Grausam is a powerful demon sage who can erase memories.
- Macht of El Dorado is said to be the strongest demon sage of destruction in Frieren. He uses a powerful curse called Universal Golden Transmutation Magic (Di Agolze), which can’t be analyzed, detected, or even dispelled! He is so powerful that he was able to beat Frieren in battle before. Aside from his immense magic ability, Macht of El Dorado is also a skilled swordsman. Interestingly, Macht is unlike any other demon because he wants to understand humans and experience their emotions.
- Unfortunately, the other three Seven Sages of Destruction are unnamed. The only information we have about them is that they were all taken down by the Hero of the South, who is said to be mankind’s strongest hero.
The Frieren manga is still ongoing, so we are expecting that more information about the Seven Sages of Destruction will be revealed.
For now, continue following Frieren’s journey to Aureole with Fern and Stark!
Frieren is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix, wherever the service is available!
