Justin Bieber has finally settled his financial dispute with Scooter Braun after the record executive loaned him money due to the pop superstar’s canceled Justice tour in 2022.
The multimillion-dollar repayment reportedly cost over $31 million, with Justin visibly shelling out a significant amount.
But despite what seems to be a massive loss to his finances, Justin still scores a major win as it’s only a little of what he got.
How Much Did Justin Bieber Pay Scooter Braun?
According to TMZ, Justin has reached a settlement to pay Scooter $26 million as part of the advance he received from AEG, the company that backed the Justice tour.
For starters, Hailey Bieber’s husband got a $40 million advance from AEG for his supposed tour. However, when Justin canceled the event, the company asked him to repay $26 million of the advance.
Scooter then backed Justin, paying AEG through his company, Hybe, and the Canadian singer was supposed to repay his former manager over 10 years.
Justin was only able to make one payment and didn’t continue. So, with the $26 million settlement over the $40 million advance, it turned out to be a win-win situation for the pop icon.
In addition, as part of the settlement, Justin was compelled to pay Scooter half of the $11 million he claimed his former talent owed him through various unpaid commissions that had piled up over the years.
TMZ revealed that an independent audit conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found Justin actually owed Scooter $8.6 million in unpaid commissions, in addition to the $26 million and $11 million debts.
So, as the businessman settled for such a small amount to get repaid, it marked another financial victory for Justin.
How Is Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun’s Relationship Today?
Justin and Scooter ended their professional relationship in 2023 after 15 years. Come 2024, the businessman stepped down from music management and on his role as CEO and board member of Hybe America.
But as the once-close friendship between the two faded, Scooter admitted that his relationship with Justin is now “not the same as it was.”
“I think there comes a point where I understand he probably wants to go on and show that he can do it,” he said on Diary of a CEO podcast in June. “I think you get to a point as a man where you want to show the world you can do it on your own.”
Scooter respected Justin’s decision to go solo and acknowledged his efforts to prove he could succeed independently.
“I think at this point, that’s what he’s doing,” he continued.
But though their relationship may be strained now, Scooter still supports Justin.
“Myself and everyone from the old team is rooting for him,” he added. “He was a very special, special talent and a very unique individual.”
Justin and Scooter began working together in 2008, when the future Grammy winner was just 13 years old.
