Endgame Writer Says The X-Men Are Going To Be A Lot Different In The MCU

Marvel fans have long since been anticipating the arrival of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While some were worried about the idea of Disney taking over 20th Century Fox, Marvel followers were more than excited to see the acquisition knowing that the deal would allow the X-Men and all of Fox's other mutant characters to head to the MCU.

However, as exciting as the prospect sounds, Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely say that the mutants are going to be a whole lot different when they make their way to the franchise.

Speaking in an interview with the LA Times, McFeely and Markus are asked what they'd like to see in the next three phases of the MCU. Markus ends up mentioning that he'd like to the X-Men, though the writer does hint that the mutants are going to be a whole lot different when they're integrated into the MCU.

"It'll be fascinating to see what Kevin Feige does with the properties he's now getting from the Fox merger with X-Men and Fantastic Four," Markus says in his interview with the LA Times. "And to see what the MCU version of those things is, because I very much doubt it will be something that resembles what you've seen before. So that will be very exciting."

This shouldn't come as a surprise to fans. Disney has long since announced that it has no plans of continuing the current X-Men franchise, hoping to reboot the film series after the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The Mutants. This of course means new actors, shutting down the possibility of seeing Hugh Jackman taking on the role of Wolverine again.

Marvel's latest release, Avengers: Endgame, is currently screening in cinemas.
