Loki may be dead in the main MCU timeline, but Tom Hiddleston is set to make a return in the Disney+ series Loki. The miniseries is still in pre-production but we may have a date on when the show can start rolling cameras.
As per DiscussingFilm, Loki is eyeing a start date on January 28, 2020. Of course, it's still very possible that they could change that, but for now, we have a good idea on the progress of the show.
We don't have any official synopsis on what Loki is going to be about, but it's said that it will follow the Loki that escapes with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame as he goes around human history affecting outcomes to his will.
Though Loki has made the transition from villain to hero in the main MCU timeline, this series will be focusing on 2012 Loki, who is fresh off of his failed invasion of New York. We don't really know what kind of character arc this version is going to have, but I bet he still has it out for Thor and the rest of Asgard.
What I'm curious about is the time travel element. Is the Tesseract going to allow him to time travel, or does he get his hands on a Quantum GPS? Maybe he finds himself with the Time Stone; in that case, I'm hoping for a Doctor Strange cameo.
Hopefully more will be revealed come Disney+ later this month.
Loki has no specific release date, but it's expected to come out on Disney+ in the spring of 2021.
