The upcoming anime season has a lot of big shows, and a recent survey revealed that Demon Slayer and Oshi no Ko are the most-anticipated Spring 23 anime.
Recently, Animate Times shared the results of a survey among Japanese fans about which series they are most excited to see this season.
As expected, Demon Slayer was at the top of the list, followed by a selection of other popular titles.
Animate Times Releases Most-Anticipated Spring 2023 Anime by Japanese Fans
The new Animate Times survey asked Japanese men and women about their most anticipated anime shows that will premiere this April.
Because of this, the initial results are divided into men’s and women’s categories.
Unsurprisingly, Japanese guys are most excited about Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc. This makes sense given the franchise’s popularity.
Following behind is KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World and Oshi no Ko.
The women’s results are a bit different. While Demon Slayer is still the top show, the second one is Oshi no Ko, with the third being the rom-com Loving Yamada at Lv999!
The Megumin spinoff isn’t part of the women’s top 5, implying that the KonoSuba fanbase consists mostly of guys.
Meanwhile, Loving Yamada isn’t in the top 5 of the men’s ranking, which makes sense given that it’s a shoujo series.

Demon Slayer, Oshi no Ko Top the List
Aside from the categorized top 5, Animate Times also shared the top 10 shows for both men and women. These include:
- Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Swordsmith Village Arc
- Oshi no Ko
- Dr. Stone: New World
- KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 2
- Loving Yamada at Lv999!
- Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage
- Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku
- The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2
- Blue Orchestra
It’s interesting to note that a lot of these shows are also at the top of MyAnimeList’s Spring 23 list in terms of member count.
The biggest difference is that Blue Orchestra and The Witch from Mercury Season 2 don't seem to be as highly anticipated outside Japan.
While the Animate Times and MAL results don’t completely match, it’s undeniable that Spring 23 is shaping up to be an exciting season, especially when compared to Winter 23, which saw lots of anime delays.
