The first part of Stranger Things season 5 couldn't get hotter! Fans are on the edge of their seats, trying to figure out whether anyone dies in the first four episodes. Luckily, this article's here to answer exactly that. As the Duffer Brothers promised, this final season wasn't going down without tears.
WARNING: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Stranger Things season 5, so proceed with caution.
Does Anyone Die in Stranger Things Season 5A?

Hawkins is one weird town, and with Vecna and the Upside Down slowly corrupting the alternative universe, it only gets weirder from here. Stranger Things has always posed threats and near-death experiences to its characters, but they didn't hold back in the first four episodes.
You can stop holding your breath because, other than soldiers from the military guarding the Hawkins Lab, no major characters have died (yet).
The Wheeler parents, Ted and Karen, nearly did, while trying to protect Mike and Nancy's youngest sister, Holly, but they still managed to survive the Demogorgon attack in their own home. Despite being unaware of the Upside Down and the existence of its creatures, Karen protected Holly to the best that a mother could.
Hopper nearly exploded himself with a bomb attached to his chest, as a form of failsafe, he claimed, but thankfully, he lives on for now, especially since he paved the way to get El to the hidden door that would help them defeat Vecna, aka the Kryptonite.
Dr. Kay has merely been knocked unconscious to buy Hopper and Eleven some time to uncover Kali, the estranged sister she met in Stranger Things season 2. As for Max Mayfield...
How Did Max Mayfield Wake Up From Her Coma?

Max Mayfield is still out of commission even in the first four episodes of Stranger Things season 5, but it doesn't mean she can't help and find her way around Vecna's curse.
Lucas remaining by her side while she's unconscious, surprisingly, almost saved her, except when he had to let go of her hand and commence the team's plan to save the children in Hawkins' lab from Vecna.
As Max lay unconscious, she turned out to be lurking around Vecna's hive mind, where she met Holly Wheeler, who had been abducted into Henry Creel's mansion. Max took the opportunity to snap Holly into reality: Henry is no savior from the monsters; he is the mastermind behind it all.
As much as Holly now wants to run away from Henry out of fear, Max specifically instructs her to return and never let Vecna know that she has discovered the truth now.
