Deadpool & Wolverine has nabbed an all-time box office record as it is now officially the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever.
Since its release last month, the MCU film has been breaking a lot of box office records and becoming one of the biggest theatrical phenomenons this year as a lot of fans went to theaters to see the titular heroes team up on the big screen.
One of the questions that fans have been wondering is whether the film will be able to become the biggest R-rated movie of all time, which would be an impressive feat since it is the first MCU film with that rating.
Deadpool and Wolverine Becomes the Biggest R-Rated Movie of All Time
Marvel and Disney have confirmed that Deadpool & Wolverine officially snagged the record of being the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
They released a new TV spot titled "All Time" to celebrate the film's momentous box office achievement.
The exciting news came just days after it joined the billion-dollar box office club. Since the film's release, it was already projected by pundits that it would be reaching the milestone.
The Oscar-winning Warner Bros./DC film Joker previously held the record. The MCU film managed to surpass it yesterday ahead of its fourth weekend in theaters.
Ryan Reynolds celebrated the film's impressive box office announcement on his social media post with a hilarious caption.
"Now imagine if Hugh had done full frontal. With the cowl on of course," he wrote.
Hugh Jackman also followed through in his social media post with a simple caption, "#LFG."
There is no doubt that this is an impressive achievement considering that it is the first R-rated movie in the MCU. It's also a major win for the franchise after years of underwhelming reception in the box office.
While the future of Deadpool and Wolverine in the MCU is still unknown, this could encourage Marvel and Disney to develop another movie with the characters or even make more R-rated movies under the franchise.
