Deadpool & Wolverine has officially joined the billion-dollar club as the recent box office report confirmed its momentous milestone.
Since its release a few weeks ago, the MCU film has been breaking many box office records. Its performance has been considered a major win for the franchise considering the underwhelming reception of its recent releases.
While it remains to be seen whether the success of this film will lead to another installment with the titular heroes, this showed how much demand there is to see them team up together in an MCU multiversal adventure.
Deadpool & Wolverine Crosses $1 Billion at Global Box Office
Reports have confirmed that Deadpool & Wolverine officially crossed the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office.
As of this recent weekend, the MCU film now has a total gross of $1.029 billion. It is the second film this year to join the elusive box office club following Inside Out 2.
It is now also set to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time within the next few days. Joker currently holds the record with $1.07 billion.
Additionally, it is the first MCU film to cross the billion-dollar mark since Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. In the franchise's post-Endgame era, this milestone has become a rare occurrence.
The Ryan Reynolds-Blake Lively household also had a great weekend as their respective films hold the #1 and #2 spots at the box office. It marked the first time that a married couple had the top two box office titles since 1990.
In his recent post on X, director Shawn Levy celebrated Deadpool & Wolverine's box office milestone where he thanked the fans for the support on the film.
There is no doubt that this is an impressive box office achievement for the film that is worth celebrating considering the current state of the MCU and hopefully, this will lead to similar success in their subsequent theatrical releases.
