Deadpool 2 May Have Spoiled Dark Phoenix Deaths Last Year

Remember when Wade Wilson couldn't stop complaining that there aren't enough X-Men in his film Deadpool 2? We sure do, and it looks like the little scene may have spoiled just what would happen in Dark Phoenix.

In Deadpool 2, Wade heads to X-Mansion in hopes to get the X-Men to help him in his cause. While he unmasks in the hallway and asks if he could get "that putz with the giant pigeon wings" (I think he means Angel) to help out, Hank McCoy (Nicholas Hoult) quietly closes the door so Wade wouldn't notice the people meeting in the room.

It's a hilarious scene but also a star-studded one. It was confirmed that the scene actually features Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Evan Peters, and James McAvoy. However, as ComicBook.com points out, there are some notable absences.

Interestingly, both Mystique and Jean Grey are not in the scene. This could confirm that the entire thing takes place during or after the events in Dark Phoenix where Raven Darkholme was killed by Jean. In addition to that, it also messes once again with the X-Men timeline considering that Deadpool 2 appears to take place in the present while Dark Phoenix happens in 1992.

So what is happening with the timeline this time? We may never know. After all, both the X-Men and Deadpool are now part of Disney following the 20th Century Fox acquisition. Perhaps it will make sense when Marvel Studios finally introduces the two franchises into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Dark Phoenix is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
