While we haven't heard any news about it, Deadpool 3 seems like a probability since both Bob Iger and Kevin Feige are aware of the R rated franchise's success. Because the movies are now associated with Disney, fans are worried that the company will force future films with the character to be PG-13 or lower. This probably won't be the case but Deadpool 2 director is hoping that they reach a "happy ground" when it comes to the film's rating.
During an interview with Yahoo UK, director David Leitch was asked about the next film's future rating. Leitch feels that a happy ground can be reached since a.) the franchise can strive without being R rated and b.) Disney can always step up and produce an R rated film for once. We'll have to wait and see but if Leitch's words mean anything, it looks like he's negotiating for the sake of the franchise's credibility.
"There's a lot of mystery still surrounding what they want to do with Deadpool in [Disney's] Marvel world but I think, from discussions that I've heard, it's all positive. I think that they're just trying to figure a way in as Deadpool's hard."
It looks like Leitch will still be involved with Deadpool 3, which is great news. Deadpool 2 was a huge improvement over the first film, managing to add some fun characters and deliver some amazing jokes. Granted, some of the heartwarming moments were a bit cliche but the film was still better than its predecessor.
No release date for Deadpool 3 was announced. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital stores.
