Could Loki Open The Gateway To The Multiverse In Phase 4 Of The MCU?

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) might have died a heartbreaking death in Avengers: Infinity War, but the Asgardian God of Mischief is set to return in his very own Disney+ mini-series.

While it might take a couple of years for Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) brother to return in Loki, fans have been busy speculating the role the anti-hero might play in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One new Marvel theory even suggests that Loki might even play a part in unleashing the multiverse that we're going to see in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

According to a post by Inverse, it's very likely that Loki will have a hand at bringing the multiverse to the MCU. While most fans believe that the combined powers of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) may open the gateways to different multiverses, this new theory suggest that Loki could also be the gate opener. After all, the version of the Asgardian God of Mischief that fans are going to see in the Loki series still has the Tesseract that he grabbed from the heist in Endgame.

While the Infinity Stone only seems capable of transporting its users through space, this theory suggest that space and time may be intertwined in the MCU, potentially allowing time travel for Loki. If space and time travel is possible, then why not dimensions as well? It's an interesting theory, that's for sure.

However, it might not be possible at all seeing how Loki comes out right after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If Loki were to open the gateway, then he'd have to be part of Doctor Strange 2 too.

Loki is set to premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2021.
