It goes without saying that the Thor franchise started off in quite an underwhelming fashion. While the first one was decent enough to warrant a sequel, 2013's Thor: The Dark World ended up becoming a critical fail and most fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have placed it at the bottom of their favorite MCU flicks.
Sure, it earned more than its predecessor but the film itself left nothing to be desired and for a time, fans couldn't care less about the God of Thunder. Thankfully, Taika Waititi entered the fray and pretty much reinvigorated the Thor film franchise, saving it from the brink of obscurity, quite frankly.
Unsurprisingly, lead star Chris Hemsworth shares the same sentiments fans initially had with his character and most especially in the second Thor film. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Australian star admitted that working on The Dark World isn't something he's proud of and even made him feel "bored" of the character.
Hemsworth explains: "I wasn't stoked with what I'd done in Thor 2. You know, I was a little disappointed in what I'd done. I didn't think I grew the character in any way and I didn't think I showed the audience something unexpected and different. When Ragnarok came along, out of my own frustration on what I'd done — and this isn't on any other director, this is my own performance — I really wanted to break the mold, and I said this to Taika."

The change of tone Taika made with the Thor franchise was initially deemed questionable by many but it sure was a gamble that ultimately paid off. Now, Odinson is set to embark on a new fun-filled journey.
Thor: Love and Thunder is slated for release on July 8, 2022.
