Chainsaw Man Overview and Chapter 98 Recap
The newest chapter of Chainsaw Man introduces Asa Mitaka, a lonely high school girl who can't connect with her classmates and often resents them for being so much more well-adjusted than her.
Chapter 98 begins with Asa's teacher, Mr Tanaka, bringing a Devil Chicken to class and tellings the kids that they will have to kill it in three months to understand the preciousness of life.
Three months forward, the Devil Chicken, Bucky, has become a bit of a class mascot and the students refuse to comply with Tanaka's order, although Mitaka appears annoyed at their decision.
Tanaka reveals that this is the lesson he wanted to teach the children and tells them he's proud they decided not to kill another living being, even if it's a devil.
Mitaka is surprised to find out that Bucky actually cares about her, being one of the few members of the school who actually know her name. But when Mitaka accidentally kills Buckyt things take a horrible turn!
On the way to Bucky's grave, the class president turns out to be the Justice Devil who reveals she's raging at Tanaka for showing kindness to Mitaka - even though she clearly needed it.
The Justice Devil badly mutilates Mitaka who, however, feels some peace knowing she didn't kill Bucky on purpose.
Just as Mitaka is about to die, a devil comes around and offers her a pact; this turns out to be the War Devil, and the pact causes her to kill the class president and Mr Tanaka both.
Waking away, she sees a poster of Chainsaw Man and promises to one day make him vomit nuclear weapons - in short, the first chapter of part 2 was pure chaos!

The release date for Chainsaw Man chapter 99 is July 20th for Japan – although for readers in Europe, US, and Canada, this will be Tuesday, July 19.
