After impressing fans with Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, and the continued support of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Capcom is on a roll and fans are wondering what they're going to do next. While some of us would like a remaster/remake of the Viewtiful Joe games or a continued push for the Onimusha games after the Warlords remaster, it looks like Capcom is sticking with their biggest moneymaker in Resident Evil.
The company has announced that they will be unveiling a new title set in the Resident Evil universe, currently called Project Resistance. Capcom opened a teaser website for this game and said that it would be officially announced on September 9, which isn't that far away. They have also confirmed that this Resident Evil game will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
It's a bit disappointing to see the Nintendo Switch get ignored, though that probably has to do with the system's power. While it can handle ports of Resident Evil 5 and 6, it would probably struggle with a brand-new game. This is why Resident Evil 7 was only available through cloud gaming, which is only an option in Japan.
Considering the success of both Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 remake, excitement for this new title is at an all-time high. Fans are probably hoping that this will be a remake of Resident Evil 3 or a brand-new Resident Evil 8 but we'll have to wait and see.
Project Resistance will be announced on September 9. The game will also be playable on the Tokyo Game Show, which is held from September 12 to 15.
