Looks are deceiving in episode 4 of Burning Kabaddi!

In the latest episode, we are introduced to a new character who isn't anything like what he appears. Up until now, we've only gotten small glimpses of the kabaddi team's captain as he rested in a hospital bed with no real clues on how he ended up there or when he was going to return to be the team captain. Finally, in this week's episode, the captain is released from the hospital and meets the new members of the team and at first, Yoigoshi isn't convinced that this scrawny guy should be the captain of the team. By the end of the episode, he is so convinced that this guy is inferior that he challenges him to a match… which is when the captain reveals his hidden talents.

Burning Kabaddi continues to be the show this season that is just kind of there. It's not so particularly good that I actually look forward to it each week but it's also not so bad that I feel the need to drop it either. I admit that if it weren't for the need to watch this series for EpicStream, I doubt I would be keeping up with it but it's not something that I dread either.

This sports series will not be able to escape the shadow of the many sports series which came before it and it doesn't even look like they are even trying to do so in the first place. This is a series that just kind of exists for the sake of pushing more manga volumes and fill up a time slot. Nothing more, nothing less. Sadly, sometimes there are series that like that and there's nothing particularly wrong with that. It'd just be nice to know ahead of time.
