There's a lot of excitement building up over Star Wars: The Mandalorian. The very first live-action Star Wars series to debut on Disney's upcoming streaming site, Disney+, The Mandalorian is being run by Iron Man director Jon Favreau and directed by a number of other big names in the Hollywood industry. This includes Black Mirror and Jurassic World actress Bryce Dallas Howard.
Like Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and Star Wars Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni, Howard is joining The Mandalorian as an episode director for the series. Knowing her career as an actress, Adam Tanswell couldn't help but ask Howard in an interview whether she'd be appearing in the live-action Star Wars series.
Though her Jurassic World fans might have wanted to see her take on a cameo role in the movie, Howard said that she wouldn't be appearing in front of the camera in The Mandalorian.
Howard was also asked what it felt like being on a Star Wars set, and according to the episode director, being on The Mandalorian didn't really feel like anything new. Apparently, Star Wars prequel trilogy star Natalie Portman had been Howard's old "camp friend," and so visiting Star Wars sets was something that she did as a child.
"I went and visited Natalie quite a bit on that set when we were like 16-years-old," Howard shared, "And also just kind of growing up around George [Lucas] and all of that. You know what, it feels like my childhood. That's what it feels like. Going on a Star Wars set feels like my childhood. It's the most amazing experience."
Not only that, but Howard's father, Ron Howard, also worked closely with Lucas on his high fantasy film, Willow. Howard was really lucky to be around so much Star Wars.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres on Disney+ on November 12.
