Avengers: Endgame Directors Weigh In On Wolverine Joining MCU

There are several reasons why people are so happy about Disney finally acquiring Fox after the lengthy negotiations. Not surprisingly, one of these reasons is the fact that the X-Men can now show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what are the chances of Hugh Jackman coming out of retirement and reprising his role as Wolverine? The directors of Avengers: Endgame are here to ask you to calm down for a bit.

Joe and Anthony Russo recently spoke to Business Insider about working on Endgame and their general connection to the MCU. Although the Russo brothers don't have any upcoming projects with Marvel Studios right now, they have admitted that they are open to returning to the MCU when they find "the right story."

But what could probably get the Russos interested to work with Marvel Studios again? Not surprisingly, the Avengers: Infinity War directors expressed interest in seeing the Fantastic Four getting a new movie. However, they aren't so hopeful for Wolverine's return just yet.

Joe Russo admitted that he is fond of Jackman's character but also stated that "he's got to be set aside for a little while." It certainly looks like Wolverine will have to take a long rest before being revived again in the MCU.

Of course, the decision to bring back Wolverine isn't something that the Russo brothers can make. It's still possible that Disney and Marvel Studios could be planning something for the X-Men considering that there are currently eight release dates set for yet-to-be-announced movies through 2022. For now, we'll have to wait until we get an official confirmation from the studio itself.
