Joe Russo might be riding on the success of one of the latest films that he co-directed with his brother, Anthony Russo, but it looks like the Avengers: Endgame helmsman is currently under fire because of a fake quote about Iron Man.
Apparently, a fake quote has been circulating on Twitter, accusing the Russo brother of going up on Good Morning America to reveal that he had always wanted to kill off Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) because he's never really taken to the character. Though the quote isn't the least bit true, Iron Man's fans went wild over the idea that Joe Russo wanted to kill Tony, bashing the director online.
The quote that's been circulating reads:
"I'll be honest. When I heard Tony Stark say ‘billionaire, playboy, philanthropist,' in the first Avengers I decided right then that he would be the big casualty of Endgame. I know he is loved by many. But he is not loved by me. He needs to go."
Taking to Twitter to post on the account that he shares with his brother, the filmmaker was quick to point out that the quote was a complete fake.
"To set the record straight, this quote is a complete fake, it's an obvious falsehood, and utterly ridiculous. I actually wanted Tony Stark dead in Civil War," Joe joked.

Of course, we understand why Marvel fans would be a bit upset over Joe Russo's supposed hatred against Iron Man. Tony Stark has been a fan-favorite character ever since he appeared in Jon Favreau's 2008 Iron Man movie, and in many ways, the hero has been in the forefront of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though his story ended in Endgame, we're sure his legacy will live on in the franchise.
Avengers: Endgame is currently available on Digital HD.
