Avengers: Endgame Deleted Storyline Revealed What Black Widow Did During The Blip

There is little doubt that Avengers: Endgame gave us two of the most heartbreaking deaths in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. However, a deleted storyline from the sequel will make Black Widow's death even more depressing for fans.

In Avengers: Endgame, it looked like Natasha Romanoff was already busy keeping tabs on everything as the world dealt with the aftermath of the Blip. She is also determined to find Clint Barton and is the only one who was able to track him down, realizing he was Ronin. However, a discarded storyline made it clear that superheroes were not Nat's only concern.

Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo had spoken about the film in The Gist podcast where they revealed that several ideas were ultimately removed from Endgame's final script (via Slate). One of these details was that "one-quarter of all children [were left with] no parents" leaving millions of orphans across the globe. Amazingly, the Russos revealed that Black Widow was supposed to lead an organization taking care of the world's orphans. Unfortunately, the storyline was dropped from the final script.

It's unfortunate that we didn't get to see Natasha Romanoff saving orphans considering that children, especially young girls, were her major concern in Black Widow. Nevertheless, we're glad we still got to see Nat's story in her standalone film.

Although Natasha Romanoff was killed off in Avengers: Endgame, Scarlett Johansson reprised her role in Black Widow, which followed Nat's backstory and effectively introduced her successor Yelena Belova.

So is there any chance that we'll see Black Widow again in the future? At this point, it is unlikely that Scarlett Johansson will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, we're expecting to see more of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova in the Phase 5 projects. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
