The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer has dropped alongside the initial showings of Avatar: Fire & Ash, confirming Chris Evans’ return as Steve Rogers. But Steve isn’t alone; he now has a child, seen being carried in his arms as he flashes a smile.

Captain America has a few children in the Marvel Universe, and one of them appears in Doomsday. So, who could it be? Read on to find out.

Just when everyone thought Steve Rogers had taken his final bow in Avengers: Endgame, he’s back in Doomsday but with a twist.

The trailer shows Steve arriving at a rural home after riding his motorcycle and hanging up his helmet. As he tucks away his Captain America suit, he cradles a baby, holding him affectionately and implying it’s his child.

In Marvel Comics, Steve has several children, but only two are most likely to appear in the MCU movie.

The first is James Rogers, who made his Marvel debut in the 2018 animated movie Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow.

Although there are claims that Peggy will also appear in Doomsday, James is actually Captain America’s child with Black Widow.

He is set to become the new Captain America, helping the children of other Marvel heroes avenge their parents as they confront Ultron.

Mentored by Iron Man in the film, James’ story could potentially tie into Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) if he becomes Steve and Peggy’s son in Doomsday.

The baby Steve is carrying could also be Ian Rogers. Introduced in the 2012 comic Captain America Vol. 7 No. 1, Ian is Steve and Sharon Carter’s adopted son, created by Arnim Zola in a test tube.

Despite his origins, Ian fights for good and opposes his creator. However, for his story to fit into Doomsday, it would likely need significant changes.

If Doomsday features Steve and Peggy’s actual child, that baby could be Sharon Rogers. However, she comes from another universe, specifically created for the video game Marvel Future Fight, and hails from a reality where Captain America never faced the events of The First Avenger.

In that universe, Steve was never frozen in ice and lived his life with Peggy, a path he effectively chose when he went back in time in Avengers: Endgame.

Like his other children, Sharon eventually became the new Captain America after Steve and Peggy retired.

While she would be a fitting addition to Doomsday, the baby seen in the trailer is far more likely to be James Rogers.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026.
