Thor: Ragnarok star Jeff Goldblum offered his take on the news of Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU return as Doctor Doom, and the response is everything you were hoping it to be.
During last month's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios officially announced that the Oscar winner is making his grand comeback to the MCU as the iconic villain Victor Van Doom in the upcoming Avengers movies.
The news was met with mixed reactions from fans as some of them were excited to see the actor appear in the MCU again while some questioned the creative decision on the casting choice.
Jeff Goldblum Responds to Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Return
In a recent interview, Goldblum was asked to weigh in on the news of Downey's return as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers movies.
The actor, who has made his rodeo in the MCU as the Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok, gave a hilarious response as he took note of the "Victor von Doom" name instead of properly reacting to Downey's return.
"Excellent news. I think I vaguely heard the... yes, yes, I'd heard whispers on my peripheral. Yes, channels. Victor von Doom... I like that name," Goldblum said.
"If my name had been Victor von Doom, I'd be a long further along than I am now. That's a great name. Or Von to anything. Or Van."
If you've seen a lot of Goldblum interviews throughout the years, you'll know that this is not a surprising response from the actor and it's the type of answer that you can expect from him.
It sounds like Goldblum was pretty much neutral about the news as he doesn't offer any hot take or severe excitement about seeing a fellow MCU star make his return to the franchise.
After all, the Grandmaster has never crossed paths with Tony Stark (except in an episode of What If...? which is set in a different universe) and it is unlikely that Goldblum will reprise the role in the upcoming Avengers movies and meet Doctor Doom.
