Akira 35th Anniversary Box Set Now Available For $50 Less Than The Original Price

It's been decades since the Akira manga series by Katsuhiro Otomo was released in Japan, but fans can now get the 35th anniversary hardcover box set of one of the most acclaimed manga sereis of all time, with the original Japanese art and right-to-left reading format for the first time.

In 1982, the first chapter of Akira was published by Kodansha, and the cyberpunk manga is set in Neo-Tokyo, a futuristic city recovering from a thermonuclear attack where the streets have been cded to motorcycle gangs and rich and powerful run dangerous experiments on destructive, supernatural powers that they cannot control. In 1988, the manga was adapted into an anime film that shortened the plot considerably but retains many of the saga's primary characters, plot elements alongside as additional scenes, motifs, and settings.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the box set was the winner of two 2018 Eisner Awards for Best Archival Collection/Project and Best Publication Design.
