Ahsoka ended with a cliffhanger as it saw Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren stuck in Peridea while Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn returned to the main galaxy, setting up another grim threat for the New Republic.

So far, Lucasfilm has not announced a second season of the series, but fans are hoping that it will be renewed soon so that they can find out what's next for the characters following the events of the finale.

Several reports have hinted that a second season announcement might be imminent as creator Dave Filoni has plans to continue the story. He is also developing a new feature film that might also follow the events of the series.

Now, as we continue to speculate on the future of the series, Filoni has finally discussed his plans for the potential second season.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Filoni discussed his plans for the potential second season of Ahsoka where he shared that he already has an idea of where the story "should end up."

"I’ve set up several threads that can continue, but if not, I feel like, well, at least I got Ezra home, and that was really important. But there’s always a plan. I hope one day we’ll see it. It could be very cool, but it took a while to get [Ahsoka] done, so you never know," he said.

Filoni also ended by quoting Yoda's line in The Empire Strikes Back, "Always in motion is the future."

It is clear here that Filoni has plans to continue the story of the series whether it's in a second season, another show, or in the film that he is developing and the story threads that he set up in the finale were seemingly always intentional.

It helps that he is now also the chief creative officer at Lucasfilm so it is very likely at this point that a second season will get announced in the near future and perhaps he is more focused on mapping out the future of the franchise at the moment due to his recent promotion.

A lot of fans will definitely want to see a second season happen as they want to see the cliffhanger gets addressed as soon as possible. Perhaps we will be able to find out in the next couple of months.

Ahsoka is available to stream on Disney+.
