Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka Episode 8, so read at your own risk!

The recently-aired season finale of Ahsoka ended on a massive cliffhanger as Grand Admiral Thrawn successfully returned to the main galaxy to revive the Empire again while Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Huyang were left stuck in Peridea indefinitely.

It made fans wonder whether the series will be renewed for a second season to address the cliffhanger or if it will continue instead in the upcoming Dave Filoni-directed film in a few years.

Star Wars is also set to air more new shows and seasons within the MandoVerse timeline which may potentially address some of the story threads that were left off in the recently-concluded series.

So far, Lucasfilm and Disney+ have not made any official announcement surrounding the renewal of the series, but a lot of fans are now hoping that it will happen very soon following the season finale's cliffhanger.

A recent article from Deadline that recapped the events of the season finale of Ahsoka provided a brief update surrounding the show's potential renewal for a second season.

They heard from their sources that a second season of Ahsoka is "more of a reality in the conversation" although nothing official has been set yet at the moment.

The recently concluded writers' strike and the ongoing actors' strike have also pushed back Lucasfilm's plans for the Star Wars TV shows so it might take a while before we'll hear an official announcement regarding a potential second season.

Based on the information that we're hearing so far, it sounds like the season finale's cliffhanger won't be addressed in the Filoni movie after all and it is likely that we will be getting a second season where they will continue the storylines that were left off before jumping to the big screen.

Given the reception that the series has gotten throughout its airing, we can safely say that a second-season renewal is guaranteed at this point, especially if Filoni pushes for it in his conversations with Kathleen Kennedy.

One thing's for sure, fans should keep their patience for now since they have to wait a little longer before they'll hear a definitive update surrounding the potential continuation of the series.

The entire first season of Ahsoka is available to stream on Disney+.
