David Letterman took a subtle dig against CBS on his YouTube channel following last week's announcement regarding the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The late-night television community has shown solidarity with Colbert after CBS announced its decision to cancel The Late Show next year. This marks the conclusion of The Late Show, as CBS has no plans to hire a new host to replace Colbert. Fans are now waiting to see how Colbert will handle the series for the remaining 10 months of its run.

How Did David Letterman React to The Late Show Cancellation?

Letterman has weighed in on the news that CBS has canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, ending the late-night franchise he started.

While he didn't release any statement about the news yet, he mocked CBS by posting a compilation video titled "CBS: The Tiffany Network," which showed clips of him poking fun at the network during the original run of The Late Show throughout the years.

It also included a caption in the video: "You can't spell CBS without BS."

Many fans in the comments commended Letterman and his social media team for showing their support for Colbert through the video and for continuing to call out the network, even though he no longer works with them.

It remains to be seen whether Letterman will post a statement or share his reaction in an interview anytime soon. Still, at the very least, he has already shown his subtle solidarity and voiced his frustration over the network's decision.

How Did the Late Night Community Show Support for Stephen Colbert?

Colbert's fellow late-night hosts, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, and Andy Cohen, appeared on the Monday episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week to show their solidarity following the news of the cancellation.

They participated in a segment that parodied the viral Coldplay Jumbotron moment, where Lin-Manuel Miranda and "Weird Al" Yankovic also appeared to perform their version of the band's iconic hit, "Viva La Vida."

As the two performed the song, the camera zoomed in on the crowd, showing Stewart, Fallon, Meyers, Oliver, Cohen, and other surprise guests, including Anderson Cooper, Adam Sandler, Christopher McDonald, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, watching in the audience. Stewart and Oliver gave a middle finger to the camera while Fallon and Meyers were drinking beers.

Jimmy Kimmel is the only late-night host who didn't appear in the segment since he is based in Los Angeles and is currently on vacation. However, he showed his support last week when the cancellation was announced.
