Star Wars: The Acolyte will transport fans to the uncharted territory of the High Republic Era, a century before the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. This unexplored era promises to introduce new characters while possibly featuring some familiar faces and names.
The Acolyte has already unveiled its central players, led by the Formidable Jedi Master Sol, portrayed by Lee Jung-Jae, and the talented former Padawan Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg.
The A-list cast also includes Carrie-Anne Moss as Jedi Master Indara, Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh, Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya, Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon, Manny Jacinto as Qimir, Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar, and Joonas Suotamo as Kelnacca.
Though their roles were explicitly created for the new Disney+ series, here are five existing characters we can see appearing in The Acolyte.
Darth Tenebrous
Darth Tenebrous is the Sith Master of Darth Plagueis. Like other Sith Lords, he also has a Sith trooper legion named after him.
There are suspicions that he is behind the design of Sith Lord Darth Maul’s starship, the Scimitar, though it is known to have been designed by Raith Sienar.
However, as the Sith history is kept under wraps from the galaxy, only Sith Eternal cultists know the significance of his name.
Tenebrous can appear in The Acolyte, though it will still depend on the timeline of the Sith it will establish.
If this happens, it will be a perfect way to introduce his other apprentice, Darth Venamis, to the canon, considering the latter is also an acolyte after Tenebrous violates the Rule of Two and trains both Plagueis and Venamis.
Yoda
A Star Wars character who doesn’t need an introduction is Yoda. A legendary Jedi Master, he has led the Jedi Order through the time of the High Republic.
He, too, has trained generations of Jedi, earning him the title of the Jedi Order’s Grand Master.
With his great wisdom and power, no one can belittle Yoda despite his small stature.
He played significant roles in defending the Republic during the Clone Wars, survived Order 66, and lived to pass on the Jedi tradition to Luke Skywalker. He even unlocked the path to immortality.
As Yoda is known to have been active in The Acolyte era, he can make his way to the new Star Wars series by making a quick cameo or even be used as a reference.
This will allow Lucasfilm to clear up some of his lore, considering he remains one of the mysterious Jedi in the franchise.
Yaddle
Belonging to the same species as Yoda and Grogu, Yaddle is a Jedi Master in charge of Jedi Initiates during the High Republic Era.
Being born 500 years before the Battle of Yavin in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, her inclusion in The Acolyte will make perfect sense.
She’s part of the ongoing Star Wars: The High Republic book series, while her fate is revealed in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.
If she is a part of The Acolyte, Yaddle will be given the spotlight and attention she deserves.
Darth Plagueis
Darth Plagueis is famous for being the Sith Master of Darth Sidious. He inspires Sidious’s lust for immortality, believing the secret to living forever is in science.
He works with Sidious to conduct research into bioengineering and experiment with his ability to influence the midi-chlorians to create life.
As The Acolyte is expected to feature the dark side of the Force and the Sith has a major role to play in this era, it may introduce Darth Plagueis into live-action.
He may even be the main Sith Lord of the series, giving viewers a glimpse of his extraordinary talents.
Darth Bane
Darth Bane is the sole survivor of the destruction of the Brotherhood of Darkness during the Jedi-Sith war, which occurred a thousand years before the Clone Wars.
After their defeat, he’s convinced that the Sith infighting has weakened the Order, allowing the Jedi to destroy them.
Hence, he reforms the Sith and creates the infamous Rule of Two, mandating there will only ever be two Sith—the Master and the apprentice.
Though he is long dead during the High Republic Era, he may still appear in The Acolyte through a spectre or Holocron.
As the Sith is plotting in the shadows to attack the Jedi while accruing influence over the galaxy, it’s a perfect plotline for the upcoming series’ story.
Who else do you think will appear in The Acolyte? With its focus on the Sith and Jedi Masters, the series may feature more characters who make cameos.
Fans should watch out for these characters and more when The Acolyte releases with a special two-episode premiere on Disney+ on June 4.
