Disney clearly has big plans for Star Wars right now. We already know about the live-action shows that are being produced and are set for release within the following year. But is it possible that a major character is finally getting his own series soon? A new report suggests that an animated show about Darth Maul is being developed by Disney and Lucasfilm!
Cinelinx reports that a Darth Maul series is currently in development for Disney+. The new show is reportedly titled Maul and will serve as a prequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story. This means we could get to see how the former Sith Lord became the leader of the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn.
In Solo, it was revealed that Darth Maul was the mastermind behind Crimson Dawn. After the death of Dryden Vos, Maul appointed Qi'ra as the crime lord's replacement and orders her to meet him on Dathomir.
The idea of an animated Maul series that will also focus on Crimson Dawn is a welcome one since it would fill in the blanks between the events in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Solo. In addition to that, it's an awesome excuse to bring back Sam Witwer as the voice of the former Sith.
We are loving the idea of more Maul in the future. However, it is also important to point out that the series has not yet been confirmed by Disney and Lucasfilm. With that in mind, it is best to take this with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
We'll be waiting for an official announcement about the Maul series. In the meantime, Star Wars has something great coming up later this year. The first trailer for The Book of Boba Fett has just been released and it's hyping up the show's premiere on Disney+ on December 29, 2021.
