According to a recent report from Deadline, Yellowstone, the highest-rated drama on television, will finish in an unexpected way. Kevin Costner's conflict with the studio about shooting schedules is thought to be the primary reason for the cancellation of the program as it currently stands.
Taylor Sheridan, co-creator and showrunner, is reportedly collaborating with Paramount Global and Paramount Network to end the wildly popular show in its current form.

Yellowstone To End In Season 5
Costner initially stated that he would work for 65 days on the first portion of the most recent season, but sources reportedly told Deadline that he would only film for 50 days. Due to prior commitments on his multi-part epic western film Horizon, for which he is starring, directing, and co-writing alongside Jon Baird for Warner Bros. and New Line, the actor informed the production staff that he would only be available for one week of shooting for the second batch of episodes.
According to Deadline, Costner's behavior has been difficult for the cast and for Sheridan and is reported to be generating morale problems among other cast and crew members.
Paramount reportedly rejected Costner's proposed shooting schedule.
Yellowstone Spinoff Starring Matthew McConaughey
It is believed that the parties are working on an extension to the franchise in which Hollywood A-lister Matthew McConaughey will play the lead in a new show set in the same universe. According to the report, McConaughey is now in negotiations with Paramount.
Sheridan has successfully expanded the Yellowstone franchise with the December 2021 premiere of the prequel series 1883, starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott, which tells the tale of the Duttons purchasing the land on which the Yellowstone ranch is situated. 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, explores Prohibition and the Great Depression.
