Marvel's X-Men Reboot Taps Hunger Games Writer Michael Lesslie
A recent report confirmed that Marvel Studios had tapped The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes writer Michael Lesslie to pen the screenplay for the X-Men MCU reboot.
Lesslie's other credits include Assassin's Creed, Park Chan-wook's The Little Drummer Girl miniseries, and Macbeth. He is currently working on Now You See Me 3.
The report noted that the project is still in early development as there is no talent or director attached or release date set. However, this is the first major step for Marvel Studios in their revival of the X-Men property on the big screen.
A search is now underway for the director who will help oversee the development of the project with Feige and Lesslie.
The massive success of X-Men '97 has proven that X-Men is a hot property for Marvel Studios and fans hope that the live-action project will also live up to the hype.
While we don't know yet what vision Lesslie has for X-Men, we can safely presume that he had a promising pitch that led to Marvel Studios choosing him out of the many writers that they were considering for the position.
It will take a while before we hear any major news about the project but it's exciting to see it starting to shape up after years of waiting.
