X-Men: First Class Director Wanted Tom Hardy For Young Wolverine

There is little doubt that Hugh Jackman's retirement as Wolverine was depressing for most fans but it also led to people trying to fan cast the role of the mutant for future X-Men movies. Not surprisingly, Tom Hardy was one of the fan favorites to take over as Logan. However, what most people didn't know was that Matthew Vaughn already has his eyes on Hardy for several years.

The Rocketman producer recently spoke to ComingSoon to promote his new film but also discussed his work with on the X-Men films. Interestingly, Vaughn confessed that he had another actor in mind while writing the script for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It's no surprise that Vaughn was actually considering casting a younger actor for Wolverine. After all, most of the major roles in First Class were recast because it was set in the past. Although Jackman's performance in Days of Future Past was still amazing, we can't help but wonder what it would have been like if Hardy was playing Logan.

It's highly unlikely that we'll see Hardy take on the role now but who knows, stranger things have happened with Wolverine.
