Writer of The Last Jedi Novelization Thinks Rey and Kylo have 'More Than a Romance'

While the "Reylo" ship has been existent since Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans went crazy over it when it was revealed that Rey and Kylo had a special connection in The Last Jedi. While some may love the idea of a romance between the characters, TLJ novelist Jason Fry thinks that there's more to the two than romance.

This comes from Reddit:

Like Fry says, maybe fans are just boiling it down to a romance since that's usually the best comparison we have; and though he's not completely ruling a romance out, he does think that the connection between Rey and Kylo is something special that can't be compared to any real-world connection—unless you can find two people who can literally read each other's' minds.

For now, Rian Johnson has left an interesting clean slate for J.J. Abrams when it comes to Episode IX. With Snoke gone and Kylo now the villain of all villains, it's going to be interesting what kind of direction Rey is going to take the story. Will she ultimately save Ben Solo? Or will she have to make the difficult choice and kill someone who was ‘more than romantic' with her?

I'm just hoping Lucasfilm doesn't pull a Warner Bros and just starts meddling with the story to ‘give fans what they want.' Despite what the haters say, I thought The Last Jedi was a masterpiece of storytelling and cinema, and it would be a damn shame if Abrams didn't take advantage of what was laid in front of him.
