Marvel Studios has dropped a new teaser for its upcoming series Wonder Man, which seemingly hints at the new Avenger’s major connection to the Sentry (Lewis Pullman).

The new Marvel series may not only be subtly setting the stage for the highly anticipated X-Men reboot; it may also make a major revelation about Wonder Man’s powers.

Believed to possess one of the strongest abilities in the entire MCU, could Wonder Man share powers with the Sentry?

What Does the New Wonder Man Teaser Reveal About Simon Williams?

On January 27, Marvel will introduce Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) to the world in Wonder Man.

An aspiring Hollywood actor, he’s willing to do anything for his big break – even if it means hiding his superpowers.

But these aren’t just simple abilities. Simon is considered one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, with superhuman strength, immortality, and energy manipulation, among others.

And the new Wonder Man teaser suggests that his powers may have originated from the Void – the dark, chaotic, and immensely powerful alter ego of the Sentry.

In both the TV spot and teaser photo released by Marvel, Wonder Man delivers a monologue in which the word “hell” is replaced with “the Void.” The line changes from, “Well, I’ve been to hell. I’ve lived in that screaming silence,” to “I’ve been to the Void.”

“I know what it’s like. I lost whatever was left of me that makes a person… a person,” he says defiantly in the clip.

As this appears to reference the Sentry’s Void, could Bob and Simon share the same powers?

The MCU introduced Bob Reynolds (Pullman) in the 2025 film Thunderbolts*. A troubled young man, Bob becomes the sole survivor of the government’s Sentry super-soldier program.

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) transforms Bob into the Sentry, a hero with power levels comparable to Superman. However, due to his mental illness, Bob harbors a sentient dark side known as the Void.

In the film, the Void attacks New York City, abducting dozens of civilians and even the Thunderbolts, trapping them in a living hell shaped by their most traumatic memories and darkest mental spaces.

Ring a bell? This experience closely mirrors what Simon describes in his monologue. He appears to be recounting a deeply personal trauma that strongly resembles the Void’s psychological torment.

In Marvel Comics, Wonder Man’s powers originate from mysterious “ionic energy,” transforming him into a superpowered being. While Simon’s transformation is the result of experiments conducted by A.I.M., the MCU could easily revise this origin to tie it to Project Sentry.

It’s also possible that Simon becomes caught in one of the Void’s attacks, forcing him to absorb ionic energy in the process.

If Wonder Man truly operates on the same power level as the Sentry, his solo series may finally reveal how these characters and their abilities are connected.

The eight-episode Wonder Man series premieres January 27 on Disney+.
