  • Quick Answer: Wonder Man is currently streaming on Disney+, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley returning as the fan-favorite actor Trevor Slattery.

Wonder Man is probably the MCU’s most meta and self-aware entry yet, featuring how the entertainment business works in-universe and, of course, the unique journey of its protagonist, Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).

By presenting the MCU’s version of Hollywood, the series also features celebrity cameos, several unexpected faces, and references to both real and fictional figures, heightening its satirical take on fame and the movie business.

So here, we break down every surprise appearance in Wonder Man.

Ashley Greene

Twilight star Ashley Greene appeared in Wonder Man Episode 1, “Matinee,” as Simon’s partner in a scene on American Horror Story

However, since Simon only has a single line and spends the scene critiquing a role he doesn’t really need to play, he ends up losing his job, while Greene’s character stays on.

Joe Pantoliano

Joe Pantoliano appears as himself in the second and final episodes of Wonder Man

In his first appearance, the seasoned character actor says, “Everyone always calls me Joey Pants,” after Simon compliments his movie The Matrix

The show then reveals that Pantoliano and Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) have a history, having previously worked together on a TV show, during which Slattery accused Pantoliano of taking the lead role.

In the finale, Pantoliano delivers a speech that is mostly condescension, particularly toward Slattery.

Simon, however, calls him out by criticizing his other film, Baby’s Day Out. It seems likely this won’t be Pantoliano’s last appearance in Wonder Man, though.

As Simon’s story progresses, he ends up starring in a movie alongside Pantoliano, hinting at the actor’s potential return if the show is renewed for Season 2.

Josh Gad

Olaf joins Wonder Man as his voice actor, Josh Gad, appears in Episode 4, “Doorman.”

After accidentally starting a fire while singing in a club, Gad’s character is saved, along with everyone else inside, by the Doorman, DeMarr Davis (Byron Bowers), who uses his phasing powers.

Gad later hires Davis as his bodyguard, giving him a chance to experience stardom himself.

However, as Davis’ fame fades, Gad attempts to phase through him during a shooting scene, only to become trapped in the Door-Field dimension that Davis was once stuck in.

This incident later reveals itself to be the origin of the so-called “Doorman clause” and the very reason Simon chooses to keep his powers a secret.

Mario Lopez

Mario Lopez also appears in Wonder Man Episode 4, hosting his own show, Hot Goss. This mirrors his real-life hosting gigs on Extra and Access Hollywood

During his appearance, he references his role as LeFou in Beauty and the Beast and teases his next project, a robbery thriller titled Cash Grab.

Other Hollywood Celebrities and Projects Mentioned

Wonder Man also name-drops a slew of Hollywood celebrities, including Matthew McConaughey, Sarah Paulson, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Cronenberg, Glenn Howerton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shonda Rhimes, Dua Lipa, Paul Thomas Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Robert De Niro, Antonio Banderas, Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight, and director John Schlesinger.

The 1969 classic Midnight Cowboy is also confirmed to exist on Earth-616. Meanwhile, the mention of Pierce Brosnan suggests that the DCEU film Black Adam may have existed in the MCU’s version of Hollywood as well.
