We already got a lot of announcements over the past weeks, and now, another summer 2024 anime got new details. Finally, Wistoria: Wand and Sword got a release date announcement along with new cast info.
This upcoming adventure fantasy anime was initially announced in February, so it’s a bit surprising that it will premiere this soon. After all, most new anime are announced a year or even more before they get released.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Release Date Announced
As with most new shows, Wistoria: Wand and Sword is based on an ongoing manga by Fujino Omori and Toshi Aoi that’s serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, the same magazine as Attack on Titan.
When the anime was announced in February, its main cast members were revealed, including Kohei Amasaki (Otto Suwen in Re:Zero) and Akira Sekine (Charlotte in Princess Principal).
Now, more new cast members have been revealed, including Tetsuya Kakihara (Natsu Dragneel in Fairy Tail), Lynn (Miorine Rembran in Gundam: Witch from Mercury), and Kengo Kawanishi (Taiga Tsugeura in Wind Breaker).
Also announced was Wistoria’s July 7 release date, meaning it will join the stacked summer 2024 lineup that includes Oshi no Ko season 2 and Suicide Squad Isekai.
The show's release date isn't a surprise, as many shows that air on its network premiere on the weekend.
Where to Watch the Wistoria: Wand and Sword Anime
In Japan, the anime will be broadcast on TBS, the same network as other hit shows such as Undead Unluck and Gundam: Witch from Mercury.
As for fans in the US, they’ll be happy to know that this new series will be streamed on Crunchyroll.
There’s no word yet on a specific schedule, but the first episode will likely be streamed on the platform as soon as it airs in Japan on July 7. As such, fans will likely expect the show to be available in the US on July 6.
All You Need to Know about Wistoria’s Fantasy Story
Wistoria follows Will, a boy who enters a magic academy. While he hopes to become a great sorcerer one day, there’s one problem – he can’t use magic.
Undeterred, Will continues to pursue his dream, though instead of using machi, he fights dungeon monsters with his sword to earn school credits.
In a way, this anime’s story is reminiscent of Mashle: Magic and Muscles, albeit with less focus on comedy.
