Fan-favorite character Jackson Gibbs finally made his NCIS: Origins debut in the recently aired episode 3. This time around, Robert Taylor is taking on the role.

Considering that the series explores Leroy Jethro Gibbs's younger years, fans wonder how the prequel series will explore his relationship with his father in this era.

In episode 3 of NCIS: Origins, Jackson was visited by Special Agent Mike Franks. They share a past due to their connection in the NIS investigation of Jethro's wife and daughter.

Jackson suggested that Frank should cut Leroy loose from the team as he believes Leroy is not fit as a "Navy cop." However, Frank argued back that Leroy has great potential in his current job.

Later on, Jackson confronted his son about his interest in being part of the NIS and reminded him that he joined the team to hunt down the killer of his family.

Leroy responded by insisting that he was committed to his job and asked his father to "go home." Jackson followed his son's wishes.

We've seen in the original series that the Gibbs have a tumultuous father-son relationship so it's not surprising that it also happened in the prequel.

Will We See Jackson Gibbs Again in Future Episodes?

Fortunately, fans have not seen the last of Jackson Gibbs in NCIS: Origins as co-showrunner David J. North confirmed that the character will appear again in the fifth episode.

"We absolutely adore Robert Taylor, and he and Austin we think are magic together. Robert and Kyle, Jackson and Franks, are also fantastic. We will see Robert again, in Episode 5 — and in a unique way," he revealed.

North also explained in another interview how Jackson's upcoming appearances will play out.

"We’ll see Jackson again, probably in an unexpected way, and Pedro as well. Of course we have to touch on Pedro," he said.

"We’re telling the origin story of Gibbs in those flashback sequences, so audiences can expect us to adhere to the rules that our canon has laid out for us. But also we’ve filled in, between those points that we already know, the details with a lot of surprises along the way."
