Is Wonder Man Getting a Season 2?
So far, Disney and Marvel have yet to renew Wonder Man for a second season. While it is part of Phase Six, the series was released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, meaning it was originally designed as a limited series.
This suggests that the show was intended to run for just one season, serving as an introduction to a character who could later appear in other MCU films or series.
However, while Wonder Man Season 2 has not yet been confirmed, that could still change depending on audience reception.
“The original shows were created as limited series… That made it challenging to make season 2s,” Marvel Studios’ Head of Television Brad Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly. “But there are shows that were caught in the middle. I’d put Wonder Man on that list where we have to see. Season 2s could be on the table if people watch.”
With Winderbaum himself expressing hope that viewers will support the series, there’s still a strong chance Simon Williams could return for another adventure.
What Wonder Man Season 2 Could be About
While Wonder Man Season 2 has yet to be confirmed, the first season finale sets the stage for a potential return.
The show focused on Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery being forced by the Department of Damage Control (DODC) to investigate Simon Williams and his mysterious ionic powers.
Despite this, the season ends with Trevor taking the fall for Simon by playing the Mandarin once again. As the DODC locks Trevor up, Simon comes to his rescue, breaking into the prison without hiding his powers – even though, as part of his actor clause, he was supposed to conceal them.
This revelation hints at a possible second season, especially with the DODC trying to capture Simon and the show’s tease that there could be an in-series sequel of Simon’s movie directed by Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić).
Showrunner Andrew Guest has already started thinking about how Simon’s story might continue if a second season is greenlit.
“If we did get the opportunity, I have put some thought into what might happen for Simon Williams,” he told The Direct. “One day, as we were finishing filming the finale, Yahya [Abdul-Mateen II] turned to me and said, ‘So, Simon can’t act anymore.’ I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And he said, ‘Well, the DODC knows that he’s got superpowers.’”
Guest hinted that a deal could form between Simon and the DODC in a potential second season to protect him from the “Doorman clause.”
“So the DODC knows it. But maybe they don’t want everyone else to know. Maybe there’s a deal to be worked out between Simon and the DODC, where there’s a little trade-off going on. We could figure it out, square this circle, given the opportunity.”
By the looks of it, there’s strong hope that Simon Williams will return in Wonder Man Season 2.
