Disney may be dominating the animation market as of now, but Blue Sky still manages to compete in the box office. And 2019 will see the release of their new movie Spies in Disguise, and the film will feature the voices of actors Will Smith and Tom Holland.
Here's the official description:
Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is… not. But what Walter lacks in social skills he makes up for in smarts and invention, creating the awesome gadgets Lance uses on his epic missions. But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way. And if this odd couple can't learn to work as a team, the whole world is in peril. SPIES IN DISGUISE is an animated comedy set in the high-octane globe-trotting world of international espionage.
With all the talk about Idris Elba being wanted as the next James Bond, I can't help but think that the Lance Sterlin character is some kind of wish fulfillment on that end. Heck, the character even kind of looks like Idris Elba; give him a British accent, and he would be a dead ringer.
As for Holland's character Walter, it looks like he's going to be using his American voice again. You'd think that they'd actually have Holland using his natural accent in an animated film. I guess they want to bank in on his recognizability as Spider-Man.
If all else, the movie still has a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Rashida Jones, Karen Gillan, and DJ Khaled.
Catch Spies in Disguise when it hits theaters sometime in 2019.
