Will Henry Cavill Play Wolverine in Captain Marvel 2?

In case you missed it, there has been a shocking update on Captain Marvel 2. Several reports reveal that Henry Cavill has been cast as Wolverine in the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. But is it true that the star of The Witcher will take over Hugh Jackman's role?

Fans have long been hoping that Cavill will eventually join the MCU so when outlets like CosmicBookNews reported about the actor being considered to play the mutant, people immediately went nuts. So is the news too good to be true? Unfortunately, it looks like it is.

There are several reasons why it's unlikely that Cavill will be taking on major projects any time soon. After all, he is currently working on the second season of The Witcher and is then expected to begin filming Enola Holmes in which he will play Sherlock Holmes. There's also the possibility that he will continue to play Superman in Man of Steel 2.

Of course, Captain Marvel 2 isn't expected to start production just yet since there isn't even a screenplay set for the sequel yet but if it is expected to premiere by 2022, Cavill probably won't have enough time in his schedule for the movie.

It would be great to see Cavill portray Wolverine. However, Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed any plans for the X-Men character being introduced into the MCU. With that in mind, it's best to take this one with more than just a grain of salt.

Cavill is currently filming for The Witcher Season 2, which is set to premiere on Netflix next year.
