It has been two years since Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) last graced the big screen in Fast X, leaving fans wondering if Fast & Furious 11 will still happen—especially after the franchise’s declining popularity and the disappointing box office returns of its latest installment.
Originally planned as a two-part finale, Fast 11 (or Fast X: Part 2) is expected to pick up where Fast X left off, with Dom and his son surviving the massive explosion caused by the villainous Dante (Jason Momoa).
So, will Fast 11 still happen?
Will Universal Pictures Produce Fast & Furious 11?

Fast 11 is set to conclude the long-running franchise that began with 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. However, a couple of years after Fast X was released, its second part has yet to see the light of day.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the budget for the finale’s second part is a major concern for the studio, with the script reportedly requiring around $250 million to produce.
Unfortunately, Universal is said to be unwilling to spend over $200 million on the film following Fast X’s disappointing box office performance.
While the tenth installment wasn’t exactly a box office bomb, it also wasn’t a major hit. The movie earned $704 million worldwide, but with its reported $340 million budget, it would have needed about $850 million just to break even.
Because of this, Universal is reportedly skeptical about moving forward with Fast 11. But there’s still a chance it could happen.
The studio is said to be taking a more cautious approach with the budget, allegedly planning to limit overseas filming locations and reduce the massive ensemble cast, where most of the expenses go.
The Fast & Furious franchise has long been known for its A-list cast. And with reports suggesting that Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot may return, it remains to be seen how Universal will make it all work.
What Did Vin Diesel Say About Fast & Furious 11?

Diesel has shared a lot about Fast 11, but so far, nothing has come to fruition. The actor revealed at the 2025 FuelFest in Los Angeles (via HotCars) that he gave Universal three conditions for making the movie.
The first was to set an April 2027 release date, the second was to bring back street racing in Los Angeles, and the third was to return Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner.
However, with no script yet and filming still not underway, a 2027 release seems far-fetched. Additionally, reviving Walker’s character through CGI following the actor’s passing in 2013 may be complicated by the film’s budget constraints.
Still, considering the Fast & Furious franchise remains one of Universal’s biggest, Fast 11 could very well happen—it’s just a matter of when.
