  • Quick Answer: Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison was absent from The Mandalorian and Grogu because Lucasfilm hasn't invited him back, leaving his character currently "shelved."

Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison recently opened up about his absence in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

The newly released Star Wars movie brought back the main characters from The Mandalorian, as well as a couple of the fan-favorites from other parts of the franchise. However, there were no major cameos from any of the familiar characters that we've seen in the series, including Boba Fett, who fans wish had shown up in the movie.

In a post on Instagram Reel, a fan told Morrison at a fan convention that they wished that he made an appearance in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

The Boba Fett actor responded by expressing his wish that his character would have helped Din Djarin and Grogu in the movie.

"I was hoping I would too, and maybe help out with something," he said.

Earlier this year, Morrison already addressed his absence in the Star Wars franchise since The Book of Boba Fett aired its final episode in early 2022. To this day, he has not been asked by Lucasfilm to reprise the role of Boba Fett.

"[I'm] shelved, that's all, like a jar of peaches," Morrison told Inverse, but not without expressing his own hope of a potential return, "When it does get opened, I'm going to come out sweeter, darling."

Morrison previously revealed that he received some pushback from Lucasfilm for having fans "send a fax, or a letter, or an email" to demand the bounty hunter's return.

He said, "I was only joking. I'm at a convention, and I say stupid things. Then I've got [Lucasfilm] ringing me; 'Look, you've been put on the shelf, Boba Fett. We might open up the jar later.'"

So far, Lucasfilm remains mum on whether they have plans to bring back Boba Fett in a future Star Wars project.
