Jeremy Renner may have been part of the original Avengers, but Disney’s offer for a Hawkeye season 2 comeback isn't on his mind.

After his near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023, the Mayor of Kingstown star worked through getting his life back, even more so when he started advocating for second chances and resumed his acting career.

But here’s where he spilled the beans on why Hawkeye fans couldn’t get the long-awaited season 2 they were hoping for.

Considering that the first season of Hawkeye ended way back in late 2021, fans have been wondering what happened to continuing the story in season 2.

As it turns out, Renner’s comeback was off the table thanks to the low cut he was going to make.

“They asked me to do [Hawkeye] season 2, and they offered me half the money,” the multi-award-winning actor relays in a recent TikTok excerpt interview on High Performance.

“I’m like, ‘It’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount.’”

Renner goes on to say that it wasn’t even Marvel or Disney who decided on the cut, but the “penny pinchers” behind the scenes.

“I’m like, ‘I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season,’” he quipped.

There was no way he was going to let them trample over his dignity, and so he said, “I told them to go fly a kite,” due to their “insult offer.”

Despite all that’s been said and done, the Clint Barton in him decided to do the right thing for himself and his family off-set.

“It’s all disheartening that that didn’t happen, but that’s fine,” Renner continued, “I’m happy to let that go, because my body’s probably thanking me, time and time again, that I’m not doing it right now.”

Since the life-changing 2023 accident that left Renner with a blunt chest trauma and 38 broken bones, Renner released a memoir, My Next Breath, which came out on April 29.

The Oscar nominee detailed the excruciating experience in his book, adding that, “Writing about it has been very emotionally cathartic to have to go word by word through it all again.”

How could he not talk about it? Renner nearly lost his life just around a new year, "I don't not talk about it. It's part of my life every day," calling it a "wonderful reminder" of human strength and fragility and "how badass it is at recovery."

While it would’ve been fun to see Renner make his Disney+ comeback, the ending of the first season makes more sense to stop there, especially when the MCU is gearing up for their Young Avengers and new team-ups to join the franchise.

In the meantime, Thunderbolts* is currently showing in cinemas worldwide. Stay tuned for more stories like this!
