Percy and Annabeth had different dreams that eventually diverged into one another. While Percy dreamt about Grover being in danger in the Sea of Monsters, Annabeth’s vision involved fire being cast upon Camp Half-Blood, their sanctuary.

Little did they know, they’d come up against Luke, the friend who betrayed Percy in the first season, whom they caught striking poison on Thalia, the son of Zeus who turned into a tree which acts as a barrier to protect their beloved summer camp.

If Thalia falls, then Camp Half-Blood falls, too. Percy and Annabeth figured they should receive a quest on what could help save Thalia from dying from Luke’s poison, and wouldn’t you know it, the answer came to the son of Poseidon in his dreams.

As Percy and Grover discovered their dreams were connected based on the bond they formed, Percy was able to see the Golden Fleece that Grover was on the hunt for on the same island he was trapped in.

The satyr told him that the powerful artifact had magical healing properties, from plants to demigods, which gave Percy a brilliant idea that could save two people in one quest. Annabeth’s discovery, however, took her on a different path.

Annabeth sought help from Chiron, who wasn’t at camp in season 2, as he was banished for failing to keep the camp safe from traitors like Luke.

When Chiron found out that Luke had poisoned Thalia right in front of the duo, he had a hunch that Kronos might have intentionally driven Percy’s attention to go on this quest.

As Chiron told Annabeth, it is crucial that Percy doesn’t leave for this quest and that he never finds out the dark truth behind it: that Percy might fall into the Titan Lord’s trap.

That trap? Kronos might have been pulling the strings to let Percy take the fall and use him as a pawn to bring downfall on Olympus.

However, as much as Annabeth tried to sabotage Percy to keep him from joining her, things took a different turn. Annabeth, Percy, and his half-brother, Tyson, ended up on a boat together to find the Golden Fleece, anyway, in the end.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 episode 3 releases on December 17, and the rest will follow suit every Wednesday.
