While Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark had Effie Trinket to care for their needs, Sunrise on the Reaping had crueler plans for Haymitch Abernathy, Maysilee Donner, Louella McCoy, and Wyatt Callow.
Who plays Drusilla Sickle in The Hunger Games prequel? Fans were shocked by the unrecognizable actress joining the cast.

Drusilla Sickle, who is the brutal and savage escort for District 12 during the 50th Hunger Games, is played by none other than Glenn Close. The trailer showed fans her first look as Panem unravels the eight-time Oscar nominee in an orange bob with severed bangs, bright red lipstick, and arched eyebrows as she is left in charge of selecting the four tributes for the Quarter Quell.
This wouldn’t be the first time fans can see Glenn disappearing into her roles, considering she also played a woman passing as a male butler in 19th-century Ireland in Albert Knobs and as a chain-smoking grandma in tight clothes in the 2024 horror movie, The Deliverance.
“I just think of character stuff as really fun,” Glenn recently told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m doing The Hunger Games now and that’s another amazing collaboration I’m having fun with.”
She added to Variety about the “huge” new movie, which seems to pertain to Sunrise on the Reaping, “There’s all these extras and helicopters and chariots and horses.”
Unlike Effie, Drusilla is ruthless and more vainly concerned about how the broadcast looks on her behalf, especially when the Peacekeepers decided to shoot down one of the chosen tributes who ran away from the stage instead of accepting his fate. But there’s more to expect from Drusilla with the District 12 tributes before they even get the chance to arrive at Panem.
As Close previously told PEOPLE, “If I have any rule that I’ve tried to hold myself to [it’s] never to repeat myself. Just for my own sake,” she said with a laugh, “I think I’d get bored.”
Drusilla will get what’s coming to her, whether she likes it or not, considering that her downfall led to being replaced by Effie Trinket as the escort for the next District 12 tributes.
