It was recently announced that German actor Lars Eidinger has been cast to play Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow. Since then, fans have been curious to learn more about him, given his stature so far among the worldwide audience.

For the past few months, it's been heavily rumored that Brainiac will be the main villain of the upcoming DCU film that will serve as a follow-up to Superman. Several well-known actors were reportedly in talks or being screen tested for the coveted role, but Gunn has denied them. In the end, they decided to cast an unknown actor for the key character.

Who is Lars Eidinger? Meet the DCU's Brainiac Actor

According to his IMDb page, Lars Eidinger is a German actor who was born in West Berlin, West Germany. He is estimated to be around 49-50 years old.

His acting journey started when he studied at the prestigious Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. Afterwards, he became an ensemble member at the Berliner Schaubühne, where he starred in various plays.

He spent most of his earlier career in theatre before he was eventually cast in films and TV shows. Aside from an acting career, he is also a musician and DJ and has released a trip-hop EP named I'll Break Ya Legg.

In his career so far, he has been part of well-known Hollywood/international films such as Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper, High Life, Tim Burton's Dumbo, White Noise, and, most recently, Jay Kelly. He has also starred in TV shows such as Sense8, Irma Vep, and All the Light We Cannot See.

Playing Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow will be Eidinger's most high-profile role to date and will likely propel him to mainstream global stardom, given the prominence of the franchise and his character in the upcoming film.

While we might be unfamiliar with his work, we can safely say that Gunn saw something in his audition tape that convinced him that he is the right actor for the coveted role, and it would be interesting to see what Eidinger will bring to the character.

What to Expect in Man of Tomorrow

Man of Tomorrow will serve as the fourth feature film in the DCU franchise, following SupermanSupergirl, and Clayface. It is slated for release in theaters on July 9, 2027.

David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult are confirmed to reprise their respective roles of Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. Just like the first movie, James Gunn is also serving as the director and writer of the project.

Other cast members who are expected to return in the film are Frank Grillo (Rick Flag, Sr.), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), and Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl). It won't be surprising if more Superman cast members will be confirmed to reprise their roles in the coming months.

While most of the plot details are under wraps, Gunn teased that the film "is a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat."
