Before Scott could ever think about going out with Ramona, he had to fight her seven evil exes! And it just so happens that there are three versions of it: the original comic books by cartoonist Bryan Lee O'Malley, the original live-action film, and the animated series titled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
Here's where to watch both the film and the series and how to use a top VPN for streaming, such as ExpressVPN and VeePN, if you can't find them in your region or on your preferred streaming platform.
Where to Watch Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Online
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World took the world by storm due to its mixed media production and its stellar cast of Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aubrey Plaza, Kiera Culkin, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Mae Whitman, and even Bill Hader.
Unfortunately, the movie is not available to stream anywhere for a subscription, but fans can opt to purchase or rent it through Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV.
Its animated counterpart, on the other hand, is available to stream on Netflix, which brought back the original cast to voice their same characters! And if Netflix, Prime, and Apple are not available in your region? Here's how to watch both the movies and series.
How to Watch Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with VPN Services
A VPN is your answer if you're struggling to find the Scott Pilgrim universe on your preferred streaming platform or in your region. That's because a VPN bypasses geo-restrictions and convinces the network that you're within the same country where the exclusive content is available.
In our opinion, ExpressVPN and VeePN are two of the best options. ExpressVPN is particularly strong, offering over 3,000 servers in 105 countries, and costs just $3.49 a month. Alternatively, VeePN has over 2,600 servers and costs just $1.99 per month, making it a slightly more budget-friendly choice.
Here's how to get started with a VPN:
Step 1: Sign Up
- Pick a price plan and start your subscription, then download the app of your VPN service of choice.
Step 2: Connect
- Navigate the app and explore connecting to different servers located in the US, the UK, and elsewhere, depending on what you're watching.
Step 3: Stream
- Go to your designated streaming platform, log in, and you'll be able to watch movies and shows outside your region.

Other Options to Consider
If ExpressVPN and VeePN are not for you, there are other VPN services worth checking out:
- NordVPN: Offers strong security and provides excellent server speeds.
- Surfshark: Unlimited device connections at an affordable price.
- CyberGhost: Known for its fast speed and reliable server networks across countries.
- Private Internet Access: Known for strong privacy features and an affordable, feature-rich VPN service.
Beyond providing access to streaming-exclusive content from the comfort of your own home, VPNs offer several other significant benefits.
Firstly, they enhance data privacy by masking your IP address, preventing monitoring by ISPs, advertisers, and other potentially exploitative or malicious entities. VPNs also strengthen online security by encrypting your internet connection, and can help reduce lag when connecting to new servers.
Ultimately, using a VPN anytime you're online is a smart move, so don't just switch one on when it's time to hunker down and watch Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (and other similar works)!
Are There Any Differences Between Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off?

Apart from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off being glaringly different in their adapted iterations, Ramona Flowers shone more in the anime version.
Despite what the title suggests, the anime put a different spin on Ramona being the love interest and instead had her character development in the 2023 series.
The anime had a bigger chance to flesh out the seven evil exes than simply being obstacles for Scott to overcome one after another. They even had their own empathetic backstories (well, except for Gideon and Matthew) that made the audience understand them even more.
The biggest surprise of it all is that Scott Pilgrim, or rather his future self, turned out to be the villain in the anime all along! All the future Scott wanted was to keep his younger self away from Ramona so she wouldn't leave him because of his selfishness, ironically making the anime really about Scott without taking the spotlight away from other major and minor characters that are just as crucial to the story.
