Andy Muschietti's IT movies have been hailed by fans as some of the best Stephen King adaptations on the big screen due to their successful blend of horror and coming-of-age elements and Bill Skarsgard's terrifying performance as Pennywise. To this day, they have become popular rewatchables during the Halloween season, even more so than the '90s adaptation in some cases.

Here's where and how you can watch the two-part IT movies, and how to use a VPN, like ExpressVPN and VeePN, if you can't find it in your region.

Where to Watch the IT Movies

Fortunately, both parts of the IT movies are available to stream on a major platform, allowing you to watch them back-to-back anytime at your convenience, especially in the spooky season.

Here are the streaming platforms where US and UK viewers can watch the IT movies online:

  • Where IT and IT: Chapter Two are streaming in the USHBO Max
  • Where IT and IT: Chapter Two are streaming in the UK: Sky Go, Now TV Cinema (the first movie only; Chapter Two is available to buy or rent on Apple TV, Amazon Video, Sky Store, or Rakuten TV)

If you're in the UK but want to stream the movies on HBO Max, a VPN is your answer! Let's take a closer look...

How to Use a VPN to Watch the IT Movies

A VPN bypasses geo-restrictions and convinces the network that you're within the same country where the exclusive content is available. In this case, you can access HBO Max outside of the US.

In our opinion, ExpressVPN and VeePN are the best options for this. Here's how to get started:

Step 1: Sign Up

  • Start the subscription for the VPN of your choice and download the app on your device

Step 2: Connect

  • Navigate the app and explore connecting to different servers located in the US, the UK, and beyond to find where the IT movies are streaming for you and your platform of choice.

Step 3: Stream

  • Go to your desired streaming service, log in, and you'll be able to watch your favorite shows and movies like IT

Other VPN Options to Consider

If ExpressVPN or VeePN aren't for you, here are some other top VPN services to consider:

  • NordVPN: Offers strong security with excellent server speeds
  • CyberGhost: Known for its fast speed and reliable server networks across countries
  • Private Internet Access: Known for strong privacy features and an affordable, feature-rich VPN service
  • Surfshark: Unlimited device connections at an affordable value

Beyond giving you access to exclusive streaming content from the comfort of your couch, a VPN packs serious benefits for your privacy and security.

By masking your IP address, you keep ISPs, advertisers, and other nosy parties from tracking your every move. On top of that, a VPN encrypts your internet connection, protecting your data and lowering your risk of cyber threats.

For all these reasons, it’s worth keeping your VPN on around the clock, not just when you’re watching the IT movies.

What is the Future of the IT Franchise?

While there are no plans for subsequent IT movies, there is a prequel series titled IT: Welcome to Derry that is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max this October 26. Andy Muschietti is involved as one of the executive producers and director of multiple episodes.

The story takes place in 1962, when a couple with their son move to Derry, Maine, just as a young boy disappears. As they arrive in town, very bad things begin to terrorize the community.

The cast includes Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Bill Skarsgard, reprising the role of Pennywise.

The first season consists of eight episodes. Following its October 26 premiere, new episodes will be released weekly until its season finale on Sunday, December 14.
